the Zone team
The Zone team: Liam, Sandra, Sarah, Corina, Andrew — Waiheke Island 2009

We are change agents on a global scale. We are unconventional, straight forward and down to earth.

We could see that the world of work was rife with greed, ego and dishonesty and was having a disastrous effect on a planet. To combat this we developed methodologies that became the enemies of complexity, bureaucracy and elitism. People experienced the work as mind-blowingly simple and life changing.

What we were doing soon became known internationally and businesses around the world invited us to come work with them. They experienced an extraordinary transformation.

We believe that the spirit of collaboration, integrity and service to others makes this transformation possible. This is what will change the future for generations to come.

The Zone is our contribution to a better world.

He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
With love.

Jane believes that this is the way to expansion and abundance in our corporate world and in the society it is intended to serve, in contrast to the current culture of downsizing in an ever-smaller competitive space. Her latest project is broadening the range of leadership styles to be found in international boardrooms through her coaching of high potential women leaders.

A native Kiwi, Jane has lived in European cities for 22 years and relishes the creativity of living nine aligned lives at once. Since this time Sandra has worked part time for a variety of small and medium sized businesses providing accounting and financial management support, primarily in the business support sector, including IT services and financial controller and New Zealand’s largest private owned environmental consultancy, and in the not for profit sector, for Variety the Children’s charity as treasurer and board member.

Kim Clementson (NZ)

Kim facilitates transformational leadership and coaching courses and has worked with a range of The Zone's clients over the last 8 years.

Kim's background is 18 years in customer service and sales, sales management, business unit management, and general leadership roles. These various roles have provided her with wonderful experiences that continue to support her growth and development.

Kim has two strong reference points that contribute to her passion for the work she does with The Zone. The first is with a business that recognized people as its heart. It was an environment of passion, hard work, big laughs and great results. The second was quite different. It was confusing, discouraging, competitive and hard work and therefore limited in it's success in terms of leadership, results and teamwork. Both have served Kim well.

Kim joined The Zone in August 2002 in alignment with her passion, which is to be actively supporting organizations to create healthy and sustainable cultures where people thrive. She has Zenergy facilitation and coaching training and has worked with a diverse range of cultures, teams and organizations delivering workshops and coaching to support their change journey.

Kim's vision is to 'create amazing experiences for others' — working powerfully with individuals and organizations. She sees organizations as the greatest opportunity to influence change and create a better experience, workplace and world for all of us.

"My purpose is to nurture and empower people — heart to heart. It's about being there for another, creating a safe space to share and move forward. It's about encouraging, challenging and exploring with people, with real care — believing in my heart that they have all the resources they need to create what they truly want."

Kim loves to spend time with her husband Pete, and their three children. They love the sea and spend big chunks of time there. They are fond of having company to their home in the country close to the Mahurangi coastline.

Lisa Markwick (NZ)

What magic can we awaken together that each one of us alone cannot access? What is it that we yearn to serve in the world?

These are two of the questions which play on my mind and that shape the work, and indeed the life, I lead.

In practice, in relationship with the Zone team, these questions are represented by the energy and passion I tune into when working with organisational leaders and teams who wish to realise the innovative possibilities of alignment and flow between people, values, brand, and purpose. My background as a leadership (and clinical) psychologist is handy here, but the most important thing is just to be present to what ever is happening in the moment, as this is where the light gets in that has the power to shift things forward.

As Director of the leadership consultancy Mindful Adventures I have the freedom to express these questions in numerous other ways. I love variety so I have a portfolio style career. Quite a bit of my time goes into a Social Entrepreneurial venture in Northland. It is a peer learning and support fellowship of and for Northland’s social innovators, in action for common good. Alongside this I co-lead a couple of workshops and retreats which support leaders to connect soul with role. These are about tapping into the power of mindful attention to connect with purpose, and awaken innate presence, while also introducing and practicing an innovation framework for leaders addressing our most complex problems and questions. And just to ensure I am never bored, I coach senior leaders and sports people, one on one, to meet their highest purpose and to thrive both personally and professionally.

Often when I am “working” it feels more like play, but for pure play I am an outside kind of girl. I really enjoy long distance endurance sports like Ironman, off road running, cycling, or else I can be found just mucking about on boats, eating good food, travelling to far flung places, or hanging out with my partner and our friends.

Siobhan Tetenburg (NZ)

I am delighted to be a member of the NZ Zone team.

My career has been in the Human Resources field in the Manufacturing, Energy, Forestry and FMCG sectors. Since 2002, I have been an Achievement Coach and Facilitator, working with leaders across a variety of organizations, helping them create the working lives they desire.

My special areas of interest are leadership, achievement and values and I gain great joy in helping people and organizations find their passions, live their values and achieve their goals.

My style is relaxed and fun while remaining focused on achievement and growth. I believe whole heartedly that if you do what you love and love what you do, you’ll never have to work again.

Vanessa Loughlin (UK)

Vanessa’s passion is to inspire and guide people and organisations to be the very best they can be. She believes in big dreams and that there are always new possibilities and opportunities to change and enlighten our world.

“Having worked in large organisations for over 20 years, I understand the challenges business leaders face. I’ve experienced the passion, vision and commitment but also the ways in which organisations get stuck in dysfunctional patterns that stifle individual and collective growth.
My belief is that there is a better way for us to work together to generate sustainable results for all stakeholders – individuals, customers, partners, shareholders and society. For me, leadership and culture are the keys to igniting this kind of mutual success.”

Bringing with her a breadth of experience and expertise in leadership development, culture change, organisation effectiveness and talent management, Vanessa joined The Zone European Team in 2010. Prior to this, she has held a variety of senior HR, OD and internal consultancy roles in large corporate companies including Motorola and Vodafone UK.

Laurel Freeland (Australia)

Long time training and development specialist. Laurel is based in Melbourne, Australia and works on local and international projects.

Immediately before joining The Zone, Laurel worked as a full time Avatar Master and part time with a Melbourne OD Company facilitating workshops values, accelerated learning and stress management workshops. She was very inspired by The Zone work and joined them in 2001 as Australian associate.

Laurel has a Diploma of Human Services. Writing and running courses for the (then) TAFE board pulled her away before completing Degrees in Psychology and Education. She is an INLPTA trained Master Practitioner of NLP, early graduate of Stephanie Burns training and has been practicing as an Avatar Master since 1997. Laurel has worked in Business & Community Development and for several years conducted possibility-thinking courses around the Australian Corporate sector with the Pacific Institute. She considers that her most valuable contribution to people development comes from a breadth of experience and a willingness to entertain different viewpoints.

Laurel's vision is to inspire people to live their life purpose and go for what they want.

Laurel believes that if people go for what they really want — not what they 'should' want, is politically correct or strategically advantageous — that they can step into a flow of creative possibility.

"I think if we lived in this kind of personal integrity we’d be happier and more willing to encourage and share with others. In a business context it translates to people being more willing to show up and continually create better ways of working together."
"Personally, it is to trust my inner knowing, be less swayed by others and more proactive about how I can be a better role model for how we can live in harmony with each and the earth."

Laurel enjoys singing, doing Tai Chi and sleeping under the stars.
